Ellison Custom Balanced Doors Called Upon for Under Armour Brand Houses in Baltimore and Chicago

FALCONER, NY… Ellison custom balanced doors make a statement at two Under Armour “brand house” locations in Baltimore and Chicago. Under Armour opened a series of brand houses to offer customers a complete, immersive brand experience.

The Baltimore brand house (Job #30756), located on South President Street in Baltimore’s Harbor East, is outfitted with extruded aluminum 12-foot-tall doors painted to match the building’s exterior.

Thomas Walsh, VP Global Stores Development for Under Armour, Inc. says they look big and powerful “but are so easy to use.”

The 30,000 sq. ft. Chicago location (Job #30969) opened in March 2015 in the heart of the city’s Magnificent Mile. It won top honors at the annual Design Awards of the Association of Retail Environments (A.R.E.), including the Store of the Year award and Best Specialty Store of more than 25,000 sq. ft. in size.

The Chicago location features two single and two pairs of painted, extruded aluminum 11-foot-tall Ellison balanced doors. The doors complete the brand house’s 65 ft.-high rotunda, which serves as the entrance – capping off the corner of N. Michigan Avenue.

The “oversized” doors were a challenge made easier by Ellison’s attention to detail and overall responsiveness, according to Michael Smoucha, Project Manager, Glass Solutions, Inc. of Elmhurst, IL. Glass Solutions handled the installation.

In both locations, Baltimore and Chicago, Under Armour has had no negative issues with the doors and Walsh says, “they always provide optimum performance.”

Unlike conventional entry doors, an Ellison aluminum door is constructed from heavy wall extrusions that are made solely for Ellison and specifically designed to work in conjunction with their balanced hardware system.

Ellison provides detailed record keeping and full warranties – important when considering the extensive lifespan of an Ellison door. Every door made is imprinted with an individual project number to facilitate easy tracking and maintenance. Furthermore, all Ellison balanced hardware components are machined in-house, which means that replacement components are always readily available.
